Project Description

World Heritage Site, the Monastery of Serra do Pilar in Vila Nova de Gaia, began to be built in 1538, under the direction of Diogo de Castilho and Jean de Rouen. The works only ended around 1670, with the completion of Our Lady of the Pilar Church.

Knowing the importance of Light, it was intended to give life to a “shadowed” monument at night, with a dynamic lighting of various colours, creating a range of experiences to those who observe up close, and simultaneously, giving visibility at long distance, highlighting and giving prominence to the beauty and grandeur of the monument.
